The instructor will be Mr. Vasileios Bourmpounis. Mr. Bourmpounis has been dancing Cretan traditional dances for over 30 years and been teaching them for the last 10 years. He was a top-level dancer of the group "Lykeio Ellinidon of Heraklion" and has performed in a plethora of occasions all over Crete, Greece, and abroad. In 2004, he had the privilege to perform at the "Irodio" in Athens, where Greece's best dancing groups gave an unforgetable perfomance.
Mr. Bourmpounis taught Cretan dances to both children and adults in Berlin (Germany) for nearly 4 years. Presently, he is the Head Dance Instructor at the Cretan Association of Montreal where he has 6 dancing groups, aged from 4 years old to adults, under his supervision. In total, he is in charge of almost 130 children and 25 adults at the Cretan Association of Montreal.
Mr. Bourmpounis has an unparalleled enthousiam in teaching Cretan dances, an enthousiam he easily transfers to his students.
His moto is: "If I want my students to sweat during practice, I have to sweat first and more than anyone, if I want my students to show enthousiasm, I have to be the most enthousiastic in the class, if I want my students to demonstrate passion for Cretan dances, I have to demonstrate unparalleled passion first. Teaching by example is the way to childrens' hearts."
